The Italian American Heritage Association of Greater Portsmouth will present an Italian-American Authors Night today, May 14. This free event will be held in the Levenson Room at the Portsmouth Public Library.

A meet-the-authors reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the authors' presentations beginning at 7 p.m. Granddaughters Karen Raynes and Marcia Hannon Buber will present "Marelli's Market: the First 100 Years," the story of Italian-American immigrants Luigi and Celestine Marelli and the intertwining of their family and their business in downtown Hampton over a 100-year period.

Michael F. Bisceglia Jr., of Hampton, is of Irish and Italian descent. In his book "Gaelic and Garlic," he compares the two sides of his family and shares their humorous adventures. The library is located at 175 Parrott Ave.
