It’s been 50 years since the Vietnam War, and Sergeant Major Daniel Evangelista will never forget what it was like.The East Providence native served in the U.S. Army’s 7th Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry, which deployed to Vietnam in October 1967.
Evangelista told 12 News he and his two brothers followed in their father’s footsteps.“My dad was an Italian immigrant who [served] in World War II,” he explained. “He had three sons — I’m the middle son — and we all went into the service. There was no question about it.”
