The Waltham Sons of Italy are preparing for their first Italian Festa on Waltham's Common, featuring many musical, theater and entertainment acts, as well as food, activities for children and even a cooking demonstration.

The opening ceremony at 11 a.m. will feature the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. Other event highlights include a cooking demonstration by the chef from Marcellino's, performances by Waltham Boys & Girls Club "Waltham Idol" singers Emma Schaufus and Isabel Savine, a performance by new Commedia dell'Arte troupe Pazzi Lazzi, an appearance by the new "Anthony" from Prince Spaghetti commercials, and an Honorary Italian Award presentation to Mayor Jeannette McCarthy.
