A new mural by Nicole Cherry has popped up at the corner of Hertel and Delaware, directly next to the soon-to-open Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo (more on that front soon). This mural proudly waves the North Buffalo flag. There is also a nice shout out to Hertel’s role as “Little Italy” – the street was once home to the Italian Festival and is also home to a number of Italian restaurants.
In recent years, Hertel has also become known as an epicenter for some of the most prolific murals in Buffalo. To that end, there is an actual alley that is dedicated to murals and graffiti, along with an annual Hertel Alley Street Art Festival (during non-pandemic times).
