The Cultural Italian American Organization will host its annual Feast of St. Joseph the Worker at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in Nacca Hall at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 303 Clark St., Auburn. The annual event celebrates St. Joseph's (San Giuseppe) the Worker Day on May 1. St. Joseph's Day itself is March 19, honoring the foster father of Jesus and known as Father's Day in Italy.
"These traditions were brought by the Italian immigrants wherever they made their destinations/home and it continues to be cherished by those of Italian ancestry," the organization said in a news release. The feast will include a small procession and ceremony led by the Rev. Lou Vasile, the placing of a statue of St. Joseph at an altar in his honor with bread and zeppole that are blessed and distributed to attendees.
