The National Italian American Bar Association is an affinity bar association comprised of lawyers throughout the United States of America, Canada, and Italy. The Association intersects with Italian American bar associations and lawyers throughout Italy, and has begun exchange, recently, with the Australian Italian Bar Association.

The President of NIABA, Francis Donnarumma of Connecticut, announced today the passing of Attorney Joseph A. Sena, Jr. of White Plains, New York. Attorney Sena was the 16th President of the Association and served from 2015 - 2017.

An accomplished attorney with suburb skills in immigration law, Attorney Sena traveled throughout the United States, representing the interests of employers, employees, and individuals. His cause was the salvation of many who traveled to the United States of America for employment, family, and dreams. His work extended through New York, Louisiana, Florida, Texas, and California. He lectured widely on the subject of immigration law.

Attorney Sena earned his Juris Doctor degree from The Fordham University School of Law in 1979. He enjoyed a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Williams College, highest honors, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Current President, Donnarumma, commented upon the passing:

"Each meeting of the NIABA Board of Directors began with circulation of a list of books and readings recommended by Joe. The board was enriched by the depth of his knowledge of all things Italian. He shared generously his joy and enthusiasm for our heritage and law, philosophy, culture and science."

Tributes from attorneys throughout the United States, Canada and Italy have been pouring into the office of NIABA. Past President Dino Mazzone of Montreal, Quebec, Canada spoke with emotion that he "will miss his sweet smile. Joe was a beautiful person - I trust that he is in God's loving arms and at peace. Until we meet again, my friend..."

Executive Vice President, Damian Capozzola, expressed condolences from the west coast from his offices in Los Angeles. Chairman of the Board, Paul Finizio joined in mourning from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Association, last week, expressed its solidarity with brother and sister attorneys in Italy during the Republic’s suffering and powerful recovery from the virus. The impact, in the United States, has been significant and has reached all walks of life and sectors of the economy. The loss of Joseph A. Sena, Jr., is significant loss to the legal community. The loss of his genuine spirit as a person of Italian heritage is immeasurable.

The officers, directors, and members of the National Italian American Bar Association will remember Attorney Sena when social restrictions are lifted. His family and friends are within the prayers of each of its members.
