Members and friends of the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum hosted the Tower of Light ribbon cutting and inaugural lighting ceremony to celebrate the majestic work of art donated by the renowned Venetian master sculptor Georgio Bortoli. It will serve as a beacon that will attract visitors to the museum.
Created by Bortoli in 1999, it stands nearly 40 feet high and is composed of steel and Murano glass. Carl J. Ciaccio, chairman of the board, and Joseph Sciame, CEO and chairman emeritus, conducted the ceremony that showcased the Italian craftsmanship of the tower. Ciaccio and Sciame said they are grateful to the guests, volunteers, and sponsors for their support of the museum.
