Holiday Greetings from the Italian American Museum

Dear Friends, at this time of our Annual Appeal, we have some very exciting news to share with you. The Italian American Museum is about to embark on a major expansion that will more than quadruple our current useable space. The new expansion and renovation will result in 6,500 square-feet of museum space. The Museum will span four levels, all linked by a central atrium and high speed elevator.

The redefined entry and facade on Mulberry Street will open up to a twenty foot high ceiling in the ground floor, providing a grandness not typically seen in the Little Italy District, and will provide the Museum with the opportunity to present large pieces of sculpture as well as other works of art. There will be four galleries in all as well as a state of the art audio visual 50 seat theater. The theater is central to the museum’s mission and will be used to present lectures, performances and film screenings, along with classes and educational programs for which the museum has already become known for.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2018 and be completed in 2019. You might ask why are we doing this and why at this time? The answer is simple. In order for us to fully present the Italian American experience, past, present and future, we need a state of the art 21st century facility. With this new museum development we will have that facility.

Please allow me to ask that you once again be as generous as you can at this time of our Annual Appeal. Again, we thank you for helping to make the dream of an Italian American Museum a reality.

Sincerely,

Uff. Prof. Joseph V. Scelsa, Ed. D.
