On Columbus Day, a day of major significance to many in the Italian American community, The Italian American Political Action Committee strongly endorsed NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, citing his work in furthering the achievements of Italian Americans.
Tom DiNapoli, the first Italian American to serve as NYS Comptroller, was named a Knight of the Italian Republic (Cavaliere dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana) in 2011 and is a member of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America. He has been honored by numerous Italian American organizations for his work and he proudly celebrates his heritage.
