Thinking about Italian for lunch? The Galbani Italian Heritage Festival opens at 11 a.m. Thursday on Hertel Avenue, between Delaware and Colvin avenues. Food is only one part of the four-day festival.
Live music, heritage events such as grape-stomping, an "Italian Idol" contest and cooking demonstrations, Sicilian puppet shows also are on the agenda. It is heralded as the second-largest Italian street festival in the United States and is in its 26th anniversary year on Hertel Avenue. The festival is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, through Sunday night.
