The Little Italy neighborhood is gearing up for a big honor. This June, Rochester City Council will officially recognize the Little Italy Historic District on Lyell Avenue. In honor of the proclamation, Little Italy will hold a “Street Festa” on June 2 from noon to 8 p.m.
“We’re just going to let the community enjoy themselves with some Italian music, Italian food, some kids’ games,” said Silvano Orsi, president of the Little Italy Association of Rochester. “We’re going to try to get the children from area schools to draw chalk art in the street once the city repaves the area here that’s under construction. I think it’ll just be fun, very family-oriented and a good time for all to enjoy together.”
