Luca Guardabascio is known in the United States for several works devoted to Italian emigration, including the award-winning documentary Andrea Doria: Can the Passengers Be Saved? Written and produced by a survivor, Pierette Domenica Simpson, and the best-selling book: Stones on the Ocean. History of Giovanni Esposito and Joe Petrosino, published by Historica by Francesco Giubilei and studies with the late Honorary Consul of Pittsburgh Joseph D'Andrea on the Italians of America,
It will be an opportunity to talk with one of the Italian directors and writers closest to our community and to see his latest film entitled Near the Word, a spiritual film with strong social themes. A film that tells of the last day of the priesthood of Father Ruggero (Fabio Mazzari) and his faithful, played by the very good Kevin Capece, Anna Rita Del Piano, Francesco Baccini, Claudio Madia in a cast that also includes international actors such as Don Most, Clayton Norcross and the never forgotten Flavio Bucci.
