Jesus has his halo back and Mary is gloriously crowned in a century-old rendering of the Pieta that was restored in time for the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church in Bulls Head.
The Pieta, a wood sculpture depicting Our Lady of Pity and the crucified Jesus, was originally located in the parish's former church building on Lamberts Lane and Richmond Avenue. But after the church was torn down in 1959 to make room for the Staten Island Expressway, the sculpture ended up in the lobby of Raccuglia & Son Funeral Home in Brooklyn.
