As a survivor of the Holocaust, he went on to document the horrors of his experiences in The Periodic Table, If Not Now, When? and The Monkey's Ranch.

How can the Italian Jewish community, which has been in Italy since time immemorial, be excluded from public life, one might ask? How did Italy manage to save thousands of would-be victims at the hands of the Nazi where other countries such as France, Belgium and Poland failed miserably? These are some of the questions that will be explored by this lecture.
