Finally, one of the biggest debates in the history of Staten Island can be put to rest: How do you say mozzarella? The borough has a proud Italian-American population that loves to share its food and culture with us. And while no one complains about the food, some question how these delicious eats are actually pronounced.
The correction pronunciation of words such as ricotta, cannoli and calamari have generated discussions in our comment section, on social media and, especially, in our Where Staten Island Eats and DrinksFacebook food group. We even tried to figure it out on an episode of “The Most Italian Eats.” But we didn’t know with 100 percent certainty which way was right — until now.
