A pair of local organizations took home $5,000 each to get some economic plans off the ground at the annual Ten at the Top Celebrating Success event in Greenville on Nov. 18. The teams of Belton Mayor Eleanor Dorn and Belton Alliance representative Richard Dorn and the Italian-American Club of Greater Greenville each won the $5,000 Hughes Investments Elevate Upstate grant to kickstart what both teams hope will be successful community events.
The Italian-American club is planning an Italian-American festival in downtown Greenville this spring. Meanwhile, the Belton team wants to start Downtown Sounds — a weekly concert series including food and music.“People love three things in Belton: They love to be outside, they love music and they love to eat,” Eleanor Dorn said.
