The Volunteer State may be landlocked, but that hasn’t stopped organizers of an education tour from bringing a replica of one of Christopher Columbus’ ships to Tennessee in October and November. On Friday, Oct. 13, the Pinta will open as a “floating museum” for dockside educational tours at Fort Loudon Marina, 5200 City Park Drive, Lenoir City, until her departure Oct. 18.
On Friday, Oct. 20, the Pinta, a replica of a Portuguese caravel used by Columbus and many other early explorers, will open as a “floating museum” for dockside educational tours at Calhoun’s on the River, 400 Neyland Drive, Knoxville, until her departure Oct. 30. On Friday, Nov. 3, the Pinta will reach Chattanooga. The ship will be docked at Chattanooga Pier, 200 Riverfront Parkway, Chattanooga, until her departure Nov. 20.
