New Orleans actor and former Heisman Trophy nominee Ed Marinaro will be recognized as the National Honoree at the 31st Annual Louisiana American Italian Sports Hall of Fame Banquet Jan. 16 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans.
Marinaro began his football career at Cornell University, where he was the first player in college football history to gain more than 4,000 yards in a career and set sixteen other NCAA records for rushing, scoring and all-purpose running. In 1971, Marinaro was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy, and in 1991, Marinaro was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
