This year's Italian Festival will be held a week earlier than usual — this Saturday and Sunday on May 14-15. Italian Festival Committee member Bobby Lenardo said volunteers decided to move this year's festival up a week to avoid conflicting with McAlester High School activities scheduled at the site the following week.

Those organizing this year's festival are enthusiastic about how it's coming together. "We think it's going to be one of the best festivals we've ever had," said Lenardo. This year's 46th Italian Festival will be held once again at the Southeast Expo Center and the Pittsburg County Fairgrounds west of McAlester.
