At Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, at 28088 Main Street in Lacombe, a group of ladies have been busy every day preparing for the annual St. Joseph Day altar. This Catholic/Italian tradition has always been held on Thursday (March 19), which is the feast of St. Joseph.
This longtime tradition was brought to America by some of the first Catholic/Italian immigrants. It is said that years before that, Sicily, in southern Italy, had experienced a great famine due to a longtime drought.
