The city of New Orleans has extended its deadline for proposals to redevelop two surface parking lots surrounding Piazza d'Italia, the 37-year-old architectural landmark nestled in the rapidly expanding downtown real estate market.
The city initially announced a request for qualifications May 12 with submissions due June 30. But the Canal Street Development Corp., which oversees the city's downtown parking lots, "determined that because the deadline was so close to the July 4 holiday, an extension would be given until July 30," a city official said.
