May 3, 2016. Tuesday 6:30 PM. The Italian Cultural and Commuity Center - 1101 Milford - Houston, Texas 77006. Join us at the ICCC for a lecture on an overview of the Great Pompeii Project—a special urgent program of conservation, maintenance and restoration launched in 2011 by the Italian government and European Union after pictures of walls collapsing in the ancient Roman site gained worldwide attention.
The lecture will focus on the Plan for Knowledge, one of the Great Pompeii Project's fundamental components as it provides the basis to schedule preventive maintenance of the archaeological structures through a management plan using an updatable database of their state of conservation with the use of last generation technologies in the fields of Survey and GIS.
