Klamath County commissioners said they are not open to abolishing the observance of Columbus Day in favor of Indigenous Peoples' Day as requested in a petition submitted last week.
Discussed during a liaison meeting Tuesday afternoon, commissioners were resistant to abolishing observance of a federal holiday, but wanted to talk more with students who submitted the petition about a possible compromise.
