If you're a fan of Broadway's "Aida," then Utah Opera has a treat for you.
The company's production of Verdi's "Aida," the opera the rock musical was based on, is coming to the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre March 12, 14, 16 and 18 at 7 p.m. and March 20 at 2 p.m. Though the format is different, and certain elements in the story have changed, the heart of both shows is still very much the same.
"If they know Elton John, they should have a frame of reference," said tenor Marc Heller, who is performing as the Egyptian warrior Radames in the show. "They should definitely feel like they're not in unfamiliar territory."
