As manuele De Reggi stared intently at City Center's Fountain Plaza on Thursday afternoon, he saw things that weren't there. It's one of his talents, he acknowledged.
De Reggi, an Italian sculptor, was paying a visit to the future site of one of his next projects, which will depict an elaborate series of boats that will appear to float in the fountain's waters. Accompanied by local real estate developer Bobby Freeman, the founder and chairman of the Newport News Public Art Foundation, De Reggi was getting a firm sense of the space and of the scale he would need to use to fill it.
