Scheduled for today, October 26, at the Italian Embassy in Washington, the first edition of the bilateral dialogue between the Italian and U.S. sections of the World Energy Council, organized in collaboration with Globe Italia. The two working sessions will be attended by Italian institutions and industrial excellence in energy and circular economy and U.S. institutional and industrial interlocutors.

"The energy crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the serious situation in the Middle East increase the sense of urgency toward the global energy transition. Trusted partners such as the United States and Italy, which will lead the G7 in 2024, are called upon to jointly provide a decisive impetus in that direction.

We are therefore delighted to host the first bilateral dialogue on energy and sustainability organized by the Italian and U.S. sections of the World Energy Council (WEC) and Globe Italia," highlighted the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia. "Italy's leadership in renewable energy and circular economy, recognized also thanks to the success stories of our industrial groups in this country, contribute to make Italy a privileged interlocutor of the United States on all issues related to the energy transition," she added.

For this reason, with our colleagues from the World Energy Council USA we have decided to start a bilateral dialogue on energy and the circular economy that will allow institutions, academia and businesses to discuss the opportunities offered by bilateral collaboration." "It is a path that will continue in the coming years, starting in 2024, the year of the Italian presidency of the G7. It is an important signal that the Embassy is hosting this dialogue, testifying to the importance of the energy and sustainability debate in bilateral cooperation; for this we are grateful to Ambassador Zappia and her entire team."

The opening greeting by the Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington, Alessandro Gonzales, will be followed by institutional speeches, including: the U.S. Department of State, with Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Energy Resources, and the U.S. Department of Energy, with Joshua Volz, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Africa, Middle East, Europe & Eurasia; David Livingston, Senior Advisor and Managing Director for Energy - U.S. Special Envoy for Climate; ARERA President Stefano Besseghini; and Federal Regulatory Commission Chief of Staff Ronan Gulstone.

Participants, coordinated by WEC USA, WEC Italy, and Globe Italia, include industry representatives from Terna, Edison, Saipem, USWind, Enel, Eni, Glencore, and Neste.

The event will feature alternating sessions in which experts provided insights into programs and projects being developed in the U.S. to support the country's energy transition. Industrial cooperation in energy and circular economy and the future of energy jobs will also be discussed with Italian institutions and companies.
