Max Stanco wants to bring a bit of Italy to Des Moines. The New York businessman is opening an upscale Italian boutique in downtown Des Moines that will feature clothing, shoes and accessories, mostly for men. He has rented street-level space in the Des Moines Building, 513 Locust St., and will open a modern boutique that Stanco called "the first luxury retail store in central Des Moines."
The shop, Lord Midas, is expected to open in a couple of months. "It is for young professionals who appreciate well-made clothing or who like to dress up," said Stanco, a slim, stylish man with an accent that's a mix of Italian and East Coast, resulting from the years he's spent living in Italy and his home base of New York.
