Francesco Pellegrino of Cold Spring Harbor recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Italian American Educators in recognition of his career achievements. Pellegrino is chief scientist for the integration of transit chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear detection systems at Lockheed Martin.
He has designed and built high-power ultrafast laser systems and analyzed high-energy laser systems for applications of the U.S. Department of Defense. He is a member of SPIE, an international society for optics and photonics, and an author.
