Luxottica Retail North America has advised Tennessee officials it will permanently lay off 208 employees at a Hickory Hill facility Dec. 31. The Department of Labor and Workforce Development alerted Memphis-area officials Thursday that Luxottica filed a notice that a layoff would occur at 5780 E. Shelby Drive.
Luxottica designs, makes and distributes fashion, luxury, sports and performance eyewear. Its brands include LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Ray-Ban, Sears Optical and Sunglass Hut. Milan, Italy-based Luxottica reported a decline in U.S. sales in the July-September quarter, in part because of hurricane-related store closings.
