The shooting for a film on Italian fashion designer Gianni Versace's life will begin in December.
Directed by Bille August, it will star Antonio Banderas. "We will be shooting in Milan, Reggio Calabria and Miami, where he lived. There will be other stars in the cast but at the moment I cannot say anything else," the Danish director said at the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest.
The project was announced for the first time last year at the festival by August and Banderas and filming was initially to have begun this spring. 'Versace' will show the rise in the fashion world of the Calabrian-born designer from the 1970s until his death in 1997, when he was assassinated in his Miami home. August has won two Palme d'Or for his works, which include 'Goodbye Bafana' on Nelson Mandela, 'The House of Spirits', 'Pelle the Conqueror' and 'Night Train to Lisbon'.
