Thanks to the generosity of the America-Italy Society of Philadelphia, under the direction of Franca Riccardi, PhD, the Cape Henlopen High School Italian classrooms learned in late April that they not only would be given a donation to cover the subscription to an authentic Italian magazine, but would also be able to use some of the funds to award a $1,100 scholarship to a deserving senior.
“There are many outstanding Italian students in my classes, so limiting it to one was a tough decision,” said Cristina Christy, Cape High Italian teacher. “Ultimately, Landon [Hayes] was selected because he is such a quiet and gentle young man whose family had really wanted to make the trip to Italy a reality for him.”
