We, the students of the University of Illinois at Chicago, are coming together to advocate for the preservation of the Italian and Italian American Studies department and minor in response to the recent proposal to eliminate certain languages and LAS departments.
Maintaining literature, linguistic, and cultural programs at UIC is essential, as they equip students with the tools to engage with diverse perspectives, fostering critical thinking and global awareness. The dedicated professors within these programs have a profound impact on students' lives, well-being, and the campus community by offering mentorship, creating a supportive environment, and encouraging personal growth.
