Stefano Calvagno knew that somewhere, in some form, someone was playing a sport known as football. "I was aware that there was a sport called football somewhere in the world," he said in his native Italian accent. "But that was all that I knew. I had never seen a game. It's like cricket.
I know that someone plays cricket, but I don't know what it is. "In Italy, and really in all of Europe, there is no such thing as American football." Just two years later — however — if the Massachusetts Division 1 state title football game comes down to a field goal, Central Catholic will be counting on the powerful leg of their Italian import.
