Italian Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Modern Languages at Farmingdale State College of the State University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Italian commencing Fall 2017. The successful candidate will be teaching four (4) courses per semester in both Italian language and English to non-majors. Courses are in Italian language, culture, film, and literature in translation

All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Service includes advising students as well as serving on departmental and college-wide committees. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Italian or related field, evidence of excellent teaching and record of research. College teaching experience, native or near-native fluency in Italian, and excellent command of the English Language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have two years of teaching experience at college level in Italian, culture, film, and literature in translation.
• This is a full-time, 10 month faculty position.

• Salary $65,000 and may increase commensurate with experience
