Antonio Pagano is hooked on Riverside and hopes residents will return his affection. The Salerno, Italy native picked this city in which to open Piad'Amore on Feb. 20 in University Village. That's a rough Italian translation of "flatbread love," Pagano's homage to his homeland's favorite street food. Think crispy, savory sandwiches stuffed with cold cuts and cheeses or sweet treats packed with jam and Nutella.
Pagano also serves flatbread calzones, flatbread pizzas, gelato, cannoli, strong espresso, breakfast, sweet flatbreads and flatbread wraps. Almost rolling-pin flat, they're the antithesis of puffy, pillowy breads and don't stick to your teeth.
