The United States crowns Abruzzo and its wines: at the Wine Star Awards ceremony, which just concluded, in the splendid setting of the majestic Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, Abruzzo received the award given by the prestigious international magazine Wine Enthusiast to the most interesting wine realities in the sector.

"It is an extremely prestigious award that gives prestige to our Abruzzo; a great international recognition, awarded in the country that is the cradle of modernity, a land that Abruzzi people have also contributed to make great," commented the vice president of the regional government with responsibility for Agriculture, Emanuele Imprudente in his speech.

The prestigious title was awarded to Abruzzo, as organizers explained, because "the region is rich in tradition and steeped in innovation, a hidden gem for the most passionate oenophiles."

The U.S. market is one of the target countries, the second largest for imports of Abruzzo wines, with a share of more than 14 percent of the total value of regional wine exports. Already from February 1 to 9, the Consortium will be, with master classes and walk around tastings, in Las Vegas, Charleston, Miami, Dallas and Houston.

Wine Enthusiast's was also praise for an unspoiled territory, described as follows by the president of the Consorzio Tutela Vini d'Abruzzo, Alessandro Nicodemi, during the awards ceremony: "hills with a thousand shades of colors and rich in ancient villages, where the vine has always shaped the landscape, nestled between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso d'Italia and Majella massifs, with - within a few kilometers - splendid imposing mountains and a beautiful sea that naturally create favorable pedoclimatic conditions for the cultivation of vines."

Ideal conditions thanks to which hundreds of increasingly competitive wineries contribute daily to elevating Abruzzo wines and grape varieties on the world wine scene.

"Abruzzo viticulture is represented by a multiplicity of wineries, from family-owned to cooperative wineries," explained President Nicodemi, "but all dedicated to producing quality wines, strongly committed to environmental sustainability and highly dynamic in reading and interpreting today's market needs without, however, denying their traditions and origins. Making the difference, in addition to the recognition of its natural beauty, is the link between local culture, people, food and music, which make Abruzzo "an ambitious destination for sustainable travel," the Awards jurors stressed.
