Carmello's is owned by long-time Manassas resident, Alice Pires, a Portuguese immigrant, who established the local landmark in 1987. The family-owned restaurant's seasonal menus serve a wide variety of American cuisine with Portuguese and Mediterranean influence. Carmello's uses local sources for ingredients. The dishes are complemented by fresh produce from the restaurant's garden.
Carmello's earned the Award of Excellence by "Wine Spectator" magazine for six consecutive years. In 2011, a sister restaurant, Monza opened providing bistro fare. Carmello's and Monza are active volunteers in the community, uniting with local charities to help those in need.
