Amore means "love" in Italian and that's the name and the goal of Spring Street's newest bakery and cafe. Owned by Sal and Joanne Martino, the couple is bringing Sussex County a taste of the homeland with fresh, homemade baked goods and light cuisine.
Sal Martino's parents own Vincenzo Martino's Market and Restaurant in Hackensack, a Bergen County landmark known for Italian meats, breads, cheeses and pastries. Martino learned from working in his family's business for years and he's hoping to duplicate their success in Newton.
