The pride and joy of Biagio Scire Jr.’s new restaurant is a 6,000-pound, tiled oven imported from Naples, Italy, bearing the name Andiamo. Meaning “let’s go” in Italian, Andiamo is the realization of a dream for the 29-year-old who opened the Neopolitan-style pizzeria in the Great Bridge Marketplace on South Battlefield Boulevard in mid-March.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Chesapeake, Scire is no stranger to the restaurant business. His father, Biagio Scire Sr., who hailed from Sicily, opened Frank’s II on Battlefield Boulevard near the Great Bridge Locks in 1991. It’s truly a family business; mom, brothers and wives are the heart and soul of Frank’s II.
