Touting a plentiful variety of homemade Italian and traditional dishes, the Breaking Bread Café in Michigan Center is open and ready to dazzle the taste buds of hungry visitors. Restaurant owners Erica Cole and Doug Grodi opened the Breaking Bread Café at 115 Fifth Street in November, offering a vast selection of food items to choose from including all-day breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches and Italian favorites such as spaghetti and baked ziti.
"Everything we make here is truly homemade, high-quality food. We really don't have anything frozen," Cole said. "You can really taste the difference here. We cook all the old stuff I grew up cooking in an Italian family." Cole, a Napoleon High School graduate, has been involved in the restaurant industry for many years, working at Finley's in Jackson and the Munith Café, and is also the owner and operator of Cole's Cleaning Service.
