Italian street food chain coming to Oakland

For those hoping for a little more amore in their lives, Oakland will be getting itself a new Italian restaurant. Piada Italian Street Food, a chain of fast casual eateries similar in style to Chipotle, is planning to expand into Pennsylvania for the first time with a shop at 3600 Forbes Avenue — the former site of Quaker Steak and Lube. A company spokesperson said they hoped to have the shop open by late November.

For hungry Pitt students, the menu offers up a mix of salads, pasta and wraps with Italian ingredients like arugula, calamari and pesto. Piada — which was founded in 2010 with a location in Columbus, Ohio — currently has more than 30 shops in five states and another four locations planned, including the one in Oakland.
