The owners of Luca Italian Cuisine in the Flats are planning to open Luca West in Westlake this summer. The restaurant will be located at 24600 Detroit Road, in the space of the former Viva Barcelona restaurant. It's just south of interstate 90 and near the Columbia Road exit. It's about 12 miles from Luca in downtown Cleveland.
Luca opened in July 2013, on the Superior Viaduct tucked into the Flats and just a couple blocks south of the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and Nautica. Luca Sema is chef, and Lola Sema is general manager and sommelier. The menu will be similar to their flagship restaurant, but will include several new items. Terry Uhl of the Uhl Group, which is representing the restaurant, said the owners plan to keep favorites while trying out some new dishes they have been working on. Prices and the relatively upscale fine-dining ambiance will remain, he added, as will a happy-hour presence.
