A high-end Italian leather goods retailer has closed its Phillips Avenue storefront and is moving to another location downtown. Luca Papini, owner of Luca: Made in Italy at 311 S. Phillips Ave., is moving his business into a third-floor space at Eighth and Railroad Center, where he first started a storefront business in 2016.
A "perfect storm" of the pandemic, financial and personal reasons convinced him it was time to get out of his lease on Phillips Avenue. "I was at the point in 2020 where, in order to survive, I had to reconsider what I did here," said Papini, 42.
