A & A Pagliai's Pizza in Iowa City was named as having the best pizza in the state of Iowa by USA TODAY College. The article, written by Lauren Kruchten of North Carolina State University, first appeared in Spoon University, an online food publication that curates its content from student food journalists.
An Iowa City tradition, A & A Pagliai's pizza is baked in a stone hearth, so it achieves that thin, crispy crust that people from the Iowa City, Coralville and Corridor areas have come to crave. The most popular pizza is the Palace Special, made with sausage, beef, pepperoni, mushroom and onion. The Veggie Special with mushroom, onion, green pepper and black olive is their other specialty pizza.
