Il Foro, the new Italian restaurant in the sparkly, Art Deco downtown Minneapolis space that formerly was home to the Forum (and before that Goodfellows, and before that a slew of other restaurants) opens Tuesday. The space is now in the hands of restaurateurs Josh Thoma, Kevin Fitzgerald, Jack Riebel and Lorin Zinter.
Thoma and Fitzgerald own Smack Shack, the seafood-centric restaurant in the North Loop. Chef Joe Rolle, formerly of Borough, is heading the kitchen and is bringing his Italian-American roots to the menu, which includes house-made pastas, gnocchi with "Sunday gravy" and rabbit cacciatore.
