A new Ciro's restaurant will open next week in the city's South End, stirring memories of an identically named dining spot in that Italian-American neighborhood. "The name is historic," general manger David A. Vecchiarelli said. "It's a recognition of old time Springfield."
The 904 Main St.restaurant is owned by attorney Gerald Glasser of the Springfield firm Kalill Glasser & Associates. Vecchiarelli and Glasser are working on the new Ciro's with Anthony Bruno. The 904 Main St. location was most recently home to Blackjack Steakhouse and briefly an Italian-American restaurant called Carpaccio.
