There’s new equipment and a new look inside, but the same classic food Billerica residents have come to love will remain when Mangia Mangia Italian Kitchen reopens later this month. Mangia Mangia Italian Kitchen, located at 430 Boston Rd. in Billerica, has been closed since May 2, when an electrical fire in the kitchen burned overnight. The reopening is slated for Sept. 18.
The fire melted many of the stainless steel appliances. Heavy smoke buildup and water caused damage to the rest of the restaurant’s interior. By the time the Fire Department arrived, the fire had been extinguished by the restaurant’s sprinkler system, but the damage was done.
