If there's one type of cuisine that's always mentioned as lacking in the city's dining scene, it's Italian.
Paul Diogenes and Ernie Lafrenaye, owners of the recently opened Tuscani Seafood and Grill, are hoping to fill that void with a menu of Italian fare coupled with fried seafood plates, burgers and pizza. "We wanted to do something different in the city," said Diogenes, who learned to cook Italian fare at home growing up on Providence's Federal Hill.
The menu offers several traditional Italian dishes such as Chicken Marsala, Chicken Alfredo, Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Parmesan, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Pasta with Bolognese Sauce, along with Lobster and Sea Scallop Fra Diablo, Tuscan Baked Haddock Florentine and Steak Tip Gorgonzola. Fruit of the Sea, a seafood pasta dish with a champagne cream sauce, is a seafood-lovers' highlight with Maine lobster, Prince Edward Island mussels, shrimp and jumbo sea scallops.
