Chef Laura Piovesana’s authentic Italian cooking star of supper series

By: Rachel Lord

The Albany Museum of Art, with the help of Chef Laura Piovesana, rang in the New Year a little early with its Supper Series event “Felice Anno Nuovo” on Dec. 29. The name of the event means “Happy New Year” in Italian, and Piovesana, the featured chef at the AMA’s latest event in its Supper Series, is originally from Italy.

The event was held at the museum, and guests were served six courses of authentic Italian dishes that would traditionally be served on New Year’s Eve in Italy and during the winter season. “I do authentic Italian, so I wanted to be able to bring to the supper series something that you would get if you went out in Italy in a restaurant for New Year’s Eve,” Piovesana said. “I tried to include a lot of traditional plates that we would normally have this season.”
