DeFazio’s, which has been serving authentic Italian wood-fired pizza and Italian dishes since 1951, has been added to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry. The family-owned business was opened by Anthony and Josie DeFazio 71 years ago on 4th Street in Troy. In 1990, Rocco and Anthony DeFazio opened up their wood-fired pizzeria next door.
Last year they expanded the business with a location across the river on Livingston Avenue in Albany as well. “The whole family we’re very proud that we received such an award from the state,” DeFazio’s Owner Rocco DeFazio said upon receiving the designation. The designation also comes a year after Dave Portnoy from Barstool Sports rated their pizza an 8.2.
